Greetings,

I am Sekar Arum Citranaya from Multimedia University, Cyberjaya. First of all i want to thank to the admin of Nusantara Project and to my groupmates for the contributions to complete the project. I would also like to thank to our lecturer Assoc. Prof. Dr. Kamarulzaman Ab. Aziz for his assistance and guidance untill the end of the project.

By taking Project Management subject, i can improve my ability to do project with the other people especially this is my first time to conduct  the project with outside of MMU students. Besides that, i gain insight how to create effective project as a project manager that i can apply the knowledge to other project. Nusantara Project taught me many things, where i had experience to communicate with Indonesian student and gain my knowledge how to create plan and effective communications among the members. Furthermore, i am as a student also feel through this project i can enhance my knowledge about project management since i am majoring in Marketing. I believe from my experience join this project will helping me in the other project especially when i have a job.

In my journey with Nusantara Project, me and my group members had difficulties to communicate with Indonesian student when we did the project. In my opinion, Nusantara Project should concern to ensure that all group members participate with the project. And i am having great experience with Nusantara Project. Thank you.

I have been studying marketing for almost two years now, and I would say this is the first. The first time that I have had the opportunity to interact and give consultation to an actual standing business and more to my delight, to such a well-established company. I was able to put the theories that I have learnt into practical terms, and throughout the process, I was able to detect parts that I am good at, and some that I am quite weak in, and this has guide me into doing further readings to improve myself.

Nusantara Project has also been the first platform for me to collaborate with students from Indonesia. I had high hopes at first, but unfortunately, my team and I had faced a few difficulties with the virtual collaboration. I believe this problem can be rectified in the future by providing better communication platform and ensuring only students who really wish to do the task should be involved in.

I would like to further my gratitude to my lecturer, the project coordinator and all my team members for the great experience. Thank you!

Entering new trimester offers new and exciting subjects that have been laid out in my course structure. Having to choose between Project management and Psychology, I opted without a doubt to go for Project Management, with hopes to be able to learn on new dimension that I can practically use in future. I am glad that I chose to do Project Management for this trimester, as it automatically opens up the door for me to communicate with people outside of my country and taught me on the theory and practicality of this subject. It was very thrilling in the first place with the idea for Nusantara Project. A huge thanks I have to give to my lecturer, Prof. Dr. Kamarulzaman from MMU, Cyberjaya, Malaysia, for letting my into the class, as it was very full at first, and I was having troubles with administration to register for it. He helped me solving in with the issue and has ever been very supportive towards my group-mates and I, in completing this project. I would also like to commend the coordinator of the Nusantara Project, Mr. Liem Gaisn for the guidance and patience that he have while dealing with our queries, confusions and repetitive questions. He has been the most helpful and resourceful to us all throughout the months. I cannot be more thankful for his weekly reminders, as at the same time, all of us are actually struggling for other five subjects in this trimester alone. Those reminders work wonders to us all.

This project have been giving me insights on how to deal with someone that is outside of your country, speaks different slangs or languages, where choosing the right communication tool is vital, along with flexibility. It was very interesting to do reviews on Sahid Hotels and their online media channels. We get to contribute ideas that we believe could work tremendously for them. Unfortunately, challenges are inevitable. For us, we are having a major communication problem, especially with Indonesian students. I was originally appointed to Group 13, only to be able to reach only one student appointed in the same group that I was, and that student is from the same university that I go to. The solution to this, I decided to approach Group 7 and Group 9 and we merged. This merged group has enabled us to get the work done swiftly.

In my opinion, Nusantara project should continue this effort in coordinating global project among students. It was a worthwhile experience for me as a student, for having the opportunity to be a part of this project and contributed in as much as I could. As a participant, I would like to suggest that in ensuring this project to work smoothly for all participants, confirmation should also be done on the lecturers' part. It would be nice to hear from them updating about their students whereabouts, whether they are in or out.  As for me, my lecturer have been really engaging throughout this project, sharing his concerns and even reminding us about the weekly task. Lastly, I would like to toast my group leader, Ms. Nadiah Syahirah Jamaludin for her countless efforts in getting us all worked up and contribute in this project, and to all of team members from Group 7&9&13. They have been diligent and focus in completing the tasks.

Greetings,

I am Nik Nur Aqilah from Multimedia University (Cyberjaya), Malaysia. I would like to first, give my thanks to the respectful lecturer,Prof. Dr. Kamarulzaman from Multimedia University for the guidance that he has provided for all the students including myself throughout the whole process of this project. I would also like to highlight my appreciation to the coordinator of this Nusantara project, Mr. Liem Gaisn for the guidance and patience that he has given to all the participants. His weekly reminder has been very helpful for my group and I. A big thank you goes to all of my group mates in group 6 and 10 for the efforts that they have put in to accomplish the project's goals for the past 14 weeks. Despite the communication barrier between the students from Malaysia and Indonesia, we were able to adapt to the situation and managed to complete all the given tasks.

This project has definitely given my group and I valuable experiences that we could utilize in the near future. These experiences that I mentioned refers to working with people abroad, expansion of knowledge in digital marketing, and deeper understanding of the culture in Indonesia, specifically in Malang, East Java. It was definitely interesting for me to work with members of a different country as they have certain different ways of doing their work. I was exposed to a different kind of working technique done among students in that country. However, there were communication barriers as the Indonesian members do not have much access to the many different kinds of communication channels available. Fortunately, we were all still able to communicate via e-mail, instant messaging and one particular mobile application. Meanwhile, as we tried to come up with cost-saving solutions for the company, we came across many kinds of digital marketing tactics used by hotels that we have never come across before. The Malaysian members including myself have also been exposed to the culture in Malang which intrigued us. It was definitely an interesting experience for us to relate the digital marketing strategies to their culture. It was something that I find beneficial to all of us as it helped to expand our creativity and knowledge.

Aside from all these good experiences, I also faced students that eventually became free riders in the group. Despite the many attempts to contact them, they remain unresponsive. Despite this issue, my group and I did not let this demotivate us and we carried on with the work. To prevent more members from subjecting to free-rider issues, we constantly engaged in normal conversations to make all group members warm up to each other. The other free riders that are unresponsive since the beginning were eventually dropped out of the group as the active members agreed that it is only fair that marks should only be given to students that actually participated in this project.

This Nusantara project should be continuously conducted as the experience is worth getting. Many students can actually learn when the participate in this project and prepare themselves in the working world.  As a participant of this project, I would like to suggest that this organization come up with a chatroom for groups or a mobile application that works similarly like the many collaboration app available in Google Play store as it would give ease for all members to communicate with their own respective groups. It would very helpful if such features were provided for groups to carry out their project.

Thank you.

Hello guys,

First of all, I would like to thank my lecturer, Prof. Dr. Kamarulzaman from Multimedia University because he had guide us all the way to finishing this project. I would like to thank Mr. Liem Gaisn for his patience and enthusiasm to remind us about the updates and deadlines. I also would like to thank all of my groupmates in group 8 and 5 because together we strive to complete this task for almost 14 weeks. Despite having problems with some of the groupmates from Indonesia, we still succeed on completing the task given.

From this project, I learnt how to actually work in a group and help each other because most of the groupmates left us without saying anything. I'm sure they have good reasons for that but from that, we learn how to work under pressure, how to solve problems immediately and the bond between us get strong over time. We also got the experience to handle the real life problems facing by a real company.  It's a shame actually we don't have all of us in group 8 & 5 to experience all of that.

Last but not least, for me, this project must continue next time because I am very sure there are a lot we can learn as a student through this project but after this, make sure all of the participants take part in this project because they just missed a golden opportunity to enhance their skills as a student.

First of all, thank you very much to my groupmates and the group leader. This is a new experience for me to go through such a different type project. Project nusantara taught me on how to communicate with international people. By participating in this project I am also able to work with people from different country. Apart from that, my biggest thanks to our lecturer, Prof. Dr. Kamarulzaman. He has guided me and my team a lot throughout this project. Not forgotten Mr. Liem Gaisn who has keep reminding our tasks, progress reports and datelines. He tried his best to reply our email as soon as possible. My suggestion and opinion here is that this project is too complicated for students to communicate from different countries. At times we don’t receive replies at all. They should make this more convenient and less complicated. Thanks.

Hi all. As the leader of Team 8 & 5, I would like to thank my groupmates for co-operating with me. Though there are some students did not co-operate neither respond till last minute, me and my other two groupmates managed to complete this project on time. Moreover, thanks to our lecturer Prof. Dr. Kamarulzaman who has spent his time on guiding us and corrected our mistakes. Apart from that, Ms. Dewi also has replied our messages and cleared our doubt on time. Thanks a lot to her too. Last but not least, thanks a lot Mr. Liem Gaisn for your updates and reminders. In my opinion, Project Nusantara is good for students to work in team and it would be great if they can do grouping within the university so the communication part will be easier. Anyways I had great fun working with Sahid Montana.

Dear Nusantara Project Administration

First of all, I want to thank all my group mates and our group leader Swantita for their contribution in order to successfully complete this project. It wouldn’t have been possible to run the project smoothly without your cooperation and effort. I would also like thank our Lecturer Assoc. Prof. Dr. Kamarulzaman Ab. Aziz for his Assistance and guidance until the end of the project. His continuous briefing and support helped us a lot in order to understand how we have to do things. Lastly, I want to express my sincere appreciation and gratitude for Liem Gaisn and all other Nusantara Project Administration team. They remind us the deadlines, provided support and explanation whenever we needed and communicate with us in friendly manner.

This Project was one of helpful experience for me. It helped me to grasp the necessary skills and considerations that I need to have in order to manage and participate in project. Besides that, it helped me to know new people and to gain and share knowledge from them. I hope the practical experience that I learnt now will be helpful for me in my future career. I also had some challenges in the project. Specially, finishing the tasks in the given deadlines was one of it. but, it helped me how to manage my time properly.

Lastly, what I want to recommend for the Nusantara Project Administration is that if they can develop a mechanism to get the list of confirmed project participants before the beginning of the project. Because, one of the challenges was that some of members left the group after we started the project and we merged with other groups.

Thank you very much and I look forward to work with you in the future.

When I first discovered Nusantara Project through the Project Management subject I'm taking, I thought this project would be really interesting to get involve in and I figured I would learn so much from it along the way- and I was right, working with my team in proposing a strategy for the Sahid Montana hotel gave me an experience in handling a project on a real problem within a real company, and this will definitely benefit in some way in the working world that I will face in the future later. The idea of working with fellow students from other countries with different culture and probably different way of working also had me interested to find out how different we could be, and how well such strangers could work in team.

The journey of completing the project has been bittersweet. I would like to thank each and every one of the active teammates in Team 7, 9 and 13, for their hard work and patience in completing this project, their genuine support to each other and for bearing with me as a leader; I honestly couldn't ask for a better team. It's too bad that the rest of the members from other universities couldn't engage very well in the project from the start. I also would like to thank my lecturer Assoc. Prof. Dr. Kamarulzaman Ab. Aziz for his immense support and guidance. And last but not least, a huge thank you to the nusantara team, Liem and Katie for their hard work in keeping this project alive and also for giving us the chance to be a part of this.

Some of the recommendations I would give for the Nusantara Project to improve are, for the admins to respond more to emails and to update the progress report regularly, which I'm sure they are trying their best to. And another is to have a better system and strategy possibly, to connect the students better.

Overall, Nusantara Project is a great project and I am in awe and very glad that this kind of project that gathers and unites students from all around the world to work on the same goal exists and it proves today's globalization.

Best of luck to all!

Warm regards,

Aziz for assist us in this project and encourage us to achieve this project. And I want to say thank you for all my group mates which team number 11 & 12 for all your efforts throughout the project.

I have gained a better knowledge in manage and control the project and how to deal with the member oversea in terms of communication risk. Since I was not be able to work properly with other members cause some of them slow response and just left in the middle of the project. However, this constraints allow me to understand how to manage the team work to still in a appropriate manner. Maybe in the next project, Nusantara project admin should be able to control all the members who participated in the project to contributed in all the tasks and provide more information so that all the members on this project understand about all the tasks.

Thank you and I feel so lucky to be part of Nusantara Project team :)

Dear Nusantara Project Administration

I would like to thank you and all of my team members to me this valuable opportunity to contribute, learn and work within this essential project, with a special thanks to my group leader Mrs.Nadiah Jamaludin who expended a remarkable effort in order to achieve to a team success. My thanks and cheers are consolidated to my groupmates, who had shown indeed commitment’s to accomplish this project and considering the possible solutions during the work process of the project.

In short, I got informed of Nusantara Project through my course subject of PM in MMU which gave us the chance to participate. Hence, I started to feel interested since it is my first time ever to discover the topic, role and real working experience of project management.  As a start point, I introduced myself to the members of the same project then a group was established together with the roles among all members. I guess, we have learned a lot from reading, participating, searching for information’s and personal experience and knowledge of each member who contributed in the project.

For my recommendation in order to develop this project, I suggest that a better communication channels could be implemented and further explanation should be provided to the members in order to understand and know more about the projects. Secondly, develop the website information and links for international student and participants who needs to know more about the project and the company.

However, I still feel so fortune to be a part of Nusantara Project and a member of my group.

 Best of luck to all,

I would like to thanks Mr. Liem Gaisn for giving me and other students a rare opportunity to actually put our knowledge that we got from our lecturer in university into a real life situation. i also want to give my thanks to my team member: Julie, Ifran, and Rifqi for your cooperation and hard work so we can finally finish this project in a satisfying manner. In this project, we from group 17 act as consultant for Sahid Montana Hotel that located in Malang, Indonesia. This Project really broaden my mind and put my analytical skill to the test. Overall for me this is really a challenging yet exciting opportunity, not to mention that our report will actuality get reviewed by a real-life business professional.

Dear nusantara project administration,

As we finished the Nusantara project, I want to thank Katie and Mr. Gaisn for all their efforts to guide us about the project and their tolerance to give us more time to finish it.

I also want to thank my lecturer Professor Philippe Regnier and Boris Reymond, they assist us from the beginning to the end, they ask our progress and give us advices every week, which really encourage us to achieve the project.

If I could give some recommendation, I think it’s important that students from different universities should have the some motivation. As we couldn’t meet each other and if we don’t have the same motivation, it would be really difficult to work together. That’s unfortunately the case of our group, we lost two members at the beginning.

However in cooperating with my team leader Olivier Muller, we achieved the project on Unilever’s sustainable development (case study on palm oil) and tried to gave some interesting recommendations.

At last I want to thank my team leader Olivier by proposing this subject. It’s a pleasure to be work with him.

I got informed about Nusantara Project by my lecturer. This is a good international exposure experience for me as a university student. This is also the first time I get an international project like this. I love to interact with another students, and share ideas. After we got divided into teams, my team and I created a group chat in one of the chat apps, so we can easily communicate. We greet each other and introduced ourselves, everyone is very friendly and open. I feel grateful to have team members like them. We had our each responsibility in doing the project and we also share our ideas about how to do the project.

Later we started to feel communication problem because of the difference of time among us. Some of our members also didn't communicate well. There was time I was busy too, but I try my best to continue inform my team members. I feel that I didn't manage my time well enough in doing the project, but thanks to my team members, they always help back me up. There were maybe some problems, but not stopping us from communicating and doing the project.

I am happy to participate in Nusantara Project. I learn many things especially from my team members.

Thank you everyone!

Dear Nusantara Project Administration,

I would like to thank Katie and Mr. Gaisn for their help through all the process from the beginning to the end of the Nusantara Project. I would like also to thank Professor Philippe Regnier and Boris Reymond for their assistance and advices, which enabled us to finish our project on time. Therefore, I would to congratulate especially my teammates, Riki, Nisa, Joshua and Dalma for their amazing work during all the project. I really had fun working with all of you guys.

The Nusantara Project has been an incredible experience so far, as we had the opportunity to work with international Students from other universities. As team leader of my group, I faced what managers or team leaders have to do when they have a team to manage such as remembering my team about the deadlines, managing the communication within the group and also between the other members in order to get the work done

Unfortunately, there are points, which need to be improved. In fact, it would be better if every member of the team had the same weigh regarding the final grade as some student from other universities were not grade at all, or it was only an assignment. As result, there was a gap between students regarding the motivation, some of us had to work much more then others as our ECTS credits depend on the Nusantara Project. Moreover, there was a lack of information regarding the companies that we had to work on as we did not have any reports, facts or financial info which could have helped us more to deliver better strategies in order to help the companies.

Regarding our teamwork, we did not have any problems, as everyone was pretty much active in the group, even with a different time zone and different schedules.  Apparently, we were almost the only ones who did not loose any member during the whole project, and I am really happy about it

Dear Nusantara Project Administration

and All Beloved Friends

First of all, I would like to deliver thanks to All parties that has given to me the opportunity so I have the chance to get involved in this great project, especially to my team, which is consisted of Julie, me, Rifqi (as member) and Genzu as my team leader with a great spirit and power to success our project from the beginning untill the end of work.

Secondly, to congrate All participants who get involved too, we have been here at this project as one part of the great people as team-workers in determining the solution for the world in general, and specially in business-world. We could made it through this opportunity, at minor scale we have made our own "story" to our part in life here.

Well, my brief story here I got firstly when I heard the information of the project from one of my classmate in social media, then spread at real action that we confirmed it with our lecture. And it's true, we are so excited when we got chance to involve the international project as co-worker as one team around the world. Sure, "the focus of teaching that usually in classroom" is changed to be education that provide working experience, interactive and collaborative.

At last but not least, with the potential of this project it could be bigger and more strength, that my recommendation is students/participant should be evaluated in their class by their lecture or teammate periodically, and no forget to keep the communication clear/well.

Once again, thanks and congrats.

Warm Regard

Dear Nusantara project administration,

Firstly, I wanted to thank both Mr. Gaisn and Ms. Katie for their kind help with this Nusantara project and the information they give us. In addition, I also wanted to thank Mr. Regnier and Mr. Reymond for their advices to do this project as well as my  team leader Genzu who was efficent and helpful.

The Nusantara project has been interesting in order to have an international experience with other universities. It was great to have different point of view as the culture is different and backgrounds as well. Our group had a good communication. The subject was excited to work at and I learn a lot about Indonesia in general. The tourism industry was a great subject.

However, there was a lack of motivation and involvement from some people in our group.  In Switzerland, the Nusantara project is an important part of my grade for the semester. I think it wasn't the case for Indonesian students which can lead to less motivation.  For the future, I advise to grade all students the same in order to have the same motivation form each student. Then, I would also provide to students a person of contact for each company you propose.

In general, it was a great experience for me so thanks a lot for this interesting project.

Team 17
